Incorporating art and design ideas into the very fabric of a building can create really inspiring spaces and so much of the teams work is involved in working closely with patients, staff, artists and architects to explore the creative potential at the earliest point in the design process. Musgrove Park Hospital has an arts policy which includes a commitment to percent for art which enables new buildings and refurbishments to invest one percent of the building costs into special art and design projects. These might include enhanced glazing, seating, signage or lighting, a special reception desk, screen or art for a waiting area. The specific location and use of each location is carefully considered to ensure design elements support staff and enhance the patient experience.
